The Fox Valley Academy of Music Performance welcomes James Yarbrough as its new Music Director in 2017.


JAMES YARBROUGH is a retired choral music teacher of 33 years working with grades one through junior college in general, band, orchestra and choral genres. Active volunteer with the Chicago Humanities Festival, Boston Early Music Foundation and Jazz Educators Network; Jim is energized as a clinician, conductor, arranger and vocalist. Recent opportunities include conducting the Faure Requiem in St. Louis and vocalist with the Defiant Verdi Requiem at Orchestra Hall. He has studied conducting with Lloyd Farlee, Harold Decker and Margaret Hillis. Free time is taken up hanging with wife, Jean; daughters Cassie and Maggie; son in law, Matt; and granddaughter Eva. Running, playing golf (poorly) and riding his BMW 1100LT motorcycle round out the week! He is very happy working alongside the musicians of the Fox Valley Philharmonic Orchestra.
