The Academy Ensembles
The Academy’s mission is to provide a challenging opportunity for musicians of all ages to study and perform great music together, while fostering creativity, friendships and life-long enrichment through the common language of music.
The Academy’s youth programs are designed to take each student’s musical experience to the next level by engaging the student in challenging works in a setting with other students of like ability. Students must pass an audition to gain admittance to the Academy.
Frequently, Philharmonic musicians are invited to visit the Academy to inspire the students and offer specialized instruction and insight for each ensemble and/or section. Elements of history and theory are also blended into the study of each ensemble’s literature.
