Thomas D. Mahady was born in Nyack, New York, and raised in Stamford Connecticut. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from South Hampton College and completed his internship with Roy Lichtenstein. He received his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Hunter College in New York City.

Tom’s diverse works include oil portraits, landscapes, equestrian renderings, and murals. Many of Tom’s murals can be viewed at local establishments including his 12’ sq. oil on canvas at The St. Charles Municipal Center that celebrates the pride of the Fox; the 14” sq. mural commissioned by The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission depicting the rich cultural heritage of West Chicago; the mural in the Villa Verona restaurant in Geneva depicting a lovely vista in Florence, Italy. Other murals can be found at The Glen Ellyn Brewery, McChesney and Miller grocery, and the Santa Fe restaurant all in Glen Ellyn. His equine portraits have included such notables as John Davies’ wife with her horse, and a Fression for Patty Mailing.

Tom’s solo exhibits include The University of Illinois, Beverly Arts Center, Aurora University, Elaine Benson Gallery of Long Island, Campbell House Art Gallery, Owl’s Head Airport (Maine), and Vox Populi (NY). He has also participated in group shows throughout the east coast, Chicago, and our very own Tri Cities.

Tom resides in Wheaton, IL. and Is a member of The DuPage Art League as well as Garfield Farm. He studied violin as a child, but now prefers the violin as a work of art rather than a musical outlet. He is fascinated by Hummingbirds and the art of puddles in a rainstorm.
