Francis Joseph Gagnepain IVBorn July of 1977 in St. Charles, Illinois, Joseph has been drawing and viewing himself as an artist since he was three. After 3 years of life drawing apprenticeship during his junior high years, Gagnepain attended and graduated from the Chicago Academy for the Arts High School and won a Marie Walsh Sharpe Art Foundation scholarship to attend summer studies in Colorado Springs. Then, he attended The Minneapolis College of Art and Design for 2 years, during which he was awarded an admissions scholarship, a MCAD Merit scholarship, and a highly competitive half-tuition merit scholarship. After a brief traveling hiatus, Joseph resumed creating artwork in his native area; working fulltime on custom murals, found object sculpture, fine art, metalwork, signmaking, and designs. Gagnepain has created a name for himself in the Fox Valley; creating several public murals, monumental sculpture, recognizable signage, while having a good share of great press. He presently maintains a painting studio and a metal work space and resides in Batavia, IL with his wife and two children. |
