Sinfonia Baroque

Sinfonia Baroque

The Fox Valley Youth Symphony Orchestras announces the formation of a new string orchestra dedicated to the study and performance of baroque music. Sinfonia Baroque is open to advanced strings players of all parts who are high school seniors or younger. Sinfonia Baroque will rehearse on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.

This is an elite ensemble that will include only 15 to 20 high level string musicians. The goal of this ensemble will be to strive for near professional sound and quality in the performance of Baroque era repertoire.

The term “Baroque” is generally used to refer to Western European music from the period 1600 to 1750. Some of the best known composers of the Baroque period include Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli and Purcell.
