The Fox Valley Youth StringsFox Valley Youth Strings is designed to give the developing musician a chance to improve their playing skills while enjoying the benefits of playing with others in an orchestra setting. The students in this ensemble will rehearse weekly for 1 ½ hour as an orchestra. Students in this group should be able to play and read all the notes in 1st position and have an understanding of the basic rhythms. They should play in tune and understand the key signatures of D, G and C. Emphasis will be placed on sight-reading skills, ensemble playing and skills related to following a conductor. Fox Valley Youth Strings rehearses on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 - 2:45 pm at Eden Supportive Living, 311 S. Lincolnway (Rte 31), North Aurora, Illinois 60542. Ms. Gina Roeser-Detienne, InstructorGina Roeser has been teaching violin, viola, and cello at Naperville Music for more than nine years. She taught violin in Green Bay, Wisconsin prior to moving to Naperville. She holds a BA in Music (violin emphasis) and Religious Studies from North Central College. She has performed in many ensembles since arriving in Naperville including the Naperville Festival Orchestra, NCC Concert Winds (clarinet), NCC Concert Choir, NCC Express Show Choir, and pit orchestras for countless musicals at NCC (she was on stage for two of them). She has also performed for various other community groups. She is currently performing as a ceremony violinist for weddings and with the first violin section of the Fox Valley Philharmonic. |
