The Fox Valley Philharmonic is a regularly performing community orchestra also affiliated with The Academy. Bringing together talented adult and college musicians from the Fox Valley and surrounding communities, this ensemble seeks to enhance the cultural landscape of the region through professional level performances of the great masterworks.

String, woodwind, brass and percussion musicians are invited to audition for a position in the Fox Valley Philharmonic. Auditions are scheduled in ten minute increments and include selections chosen by the auditioning musician. Selections may include etudes or excerpts from the concerto repertoire. String players are encouraged to select audition material that demonstrates various bowing techniques.

February 24 — Music for the Living Room

Aurora University - 3:00 PM

Chamber music was created for more intimate settings. Members of the orchestra will be featured in small ensembles and as soloists with chamber orchestra.

April 13 — Travel Europe in 80 Minutes

East Aurora High School - 3:00 PM

Take a European vacation (musically, that is) in just about 80 minutes as the orchestra whisks you off on a musical adventure.

June 26 — Salute to America

Paramount Arts Centre - 7:30 PM

Start your Independence Day holiday early by enjoying rousing patriotic music. The orchestra will be joined by a chorus of local voices to celebrate another birthday of freedom.

September 28 — Genius Interrupted

Aurora University - 3:00 PM

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died at the tender age of 35 leaving a legacy of musical genius never known before or since. The orchestra will be joined by Thomas Jostlein, assistant principal horn of the New York Philharmonic and Edita Eppolito, piano virtuoso for two of Mozart’s famous concertos.

December 7 — Happy Holidays to All !

Music is what makes the holidays special. Come enjoy the orchestra joined by a chorus of local voices and get a chance to sing along on some favorite holiday tunes.
